The Haunting Truth documentary

haunTopic Radio Premieres – By Haunters, For Haunters

UPDATE: You can play the file on this page – Coming Soon- Downloads and iTunes subscriptions!

We realize that we don’t do enough to keep the Haunt and Halloween spirit alive in the off-season. Most non-haunters may not realize that it takes lots of time and hard work all year long to get your haunts ready. Even if you’re a just a home haunter you may be planning a new scare for this year, or next. And what better time to work on it than in the summer when it’s warm in the garage, which means you might need to start thinking about it now. Or, if you are blessed with a warm garage already, what are you waiting for?

To help keep people inspired and in the ‘ween state of mind Darryl Plunkie of dEdmonton and Brian Foreman of Scary Visions have started a podcast for haunters, by haunters. While they are doing some touchups to the haunTopic website Brian has released the first, introductory, episode on his ScaryVisions website.

Head on over to http://scaryvisions.com/hauntopic-radio/ to give the first episode a listen to and comment here or on our Facebook Page and let us know what you think!

dEdmonton.tv Ep3 and other news

Episode 3 of dEdmonton.tv is up so have a look, catch up on the back episodes and special reports, then tell your friends to subscribe as well.

We want to thank all of the other vloggers and subscribers to our YouTube channel and especially The Bloodshed Brothers who gave dEdmonton.tv a shout-out on their vlog. Watch the episode here or visit their website at TheBloodshedBrothers.com.

As mentioned the TransWorld haunt show is happening this weekend (along with several other events) and Halloween Manty has posted a great video showing some of what we are missing by not being there:

The Edmonton Bone-Wagon Association also mentioned that some of them are heading down to Hearse Con 2011 in Denver, Colorado in June. Here’s the full video that you see part of in the latest episode:

Also mentioned in the episode are the “newspapers” that @Peanutgnome has set up. Have a look at both the daily Halloween and Horror edition and the weekly Haunt edition and keep on top of things that are happening. (Oh, if you want he also follows the automotive news too…). Unfortunately there are no back-issues, but subscribe to get an alert in your mailbox daily.

Need to congratulate the makers of “Dreamgirl 666″ and “It Came From Under the Sink” entries they did for DEDfest 6:66 – the films keep getting better!
The next DEDfest 6:66 contest and film was announced – April 1st they will be showing ARMY OF DARKNESS and the short film entries should be in the style of… Bruce Campbell – get your cameras, scripts, props and special effects ready. Head on over to DEDfest.com for more details.

Creepy Giveaway – act quickly!

newagedolls_dot_com_giveawayCreepy isn’t just for Halloween, especially when you have talented artists such as Jade Perez offering a January giveaway! You can win this beautiful horror for yourself. How?

First, head on over to the giveaway site and follow her blog: newagedolls.blogspot.com. Just comment at the bottom of the page and that is it…you have an entry!

Hurry – contest entry is only open till January 31st at Noon Pacific time! Later that day the winner is announced.

You can get more entries of course – just blog about her contest or her excellent Etsy store, and spread the word on Facebook and MySpace too.

I suggest you spend some time on her site(s) – her work is incredible. These are one-of-a-kind pieces, not your typical mass-produced stuff.

And who says you can’t celebrate Halloween all year round? Certainly not us dEdmontonians!

Custom Costumes opens in South Edmonton

Custom CostumesMany stores are starting to get their Halloween displays out – and school has just started. No, I’m not complaining – I’m excited!

The grand opening of Custom Costumes is tonight, September 4th, 2009 at 5:00 pm. Located at 3414 Gateway Blvd (the same location as last year), this seasonal store has excellent displays, scary props and an abundance of costumes for young and old alike. With over 10,000 square feet of “Halloween Everything” they are the best place in the south of the city to find your Halloween props, costumes, makeup and effects.

Their mission: to create a bigger and better Halloween with each year passing.
And they are succeeding.

After watching this store grow over the past several years we are always excited to see it opening and see what surprises they have in store for us. They carry the latest in mens, ladies, plus size, children and pet costumes. They also carry all the accessories including shoes, wigs, makeup, masks, an huge selection of indoor and outdoor props and a giant animated Frankenstein!

To help out with tonight’s Grand Opening, the Edmonton Bonewagon Association will have a couple hearses present so come on out and see them.
